When the word consumption is talked about is usually in the context of food. We rarely think about what we are feeding our minds on daily basis. We tend to forget that every scroll on Instagram, celebrity
gossip blogs are form of consumption. What we feed our minds is just as important as we we feed our bodies if not more.
Ramit Sethi just inspired me to write this post after receiving one of his life changing emails. If you are not on his email list, you are missing out.

Now when I am consuming something, I need to ask myself how is this information helping in the next 5-10 years. I've been a chronic procrastinator all my life. Used to live by the motto, I'll do it tomorrow and I want to live in the present moment. I am all for living in the present, but the present becomes the past and the past becomes the future. If I am not planning and producing instead of consuming useless information. I am not really living a purposeful life.
Around me everyday I hear a lot of people who complain about the weekend never being enough and when I ask them what they did, response if always nothing. I am always so stunned how people wait for the weekend to live and they still do nothing.
Hey, I don't waste my time worrying about how other people live their lives but I work with, friends with, related to a few so it's hard to escape those conversations sometimes.
I've made it my mission a few years ago to never live for the weekend. it's my sacred time to get stuff done and I am not talking about chores/errands. I make sure to do my errands during lunch time and after work never on the weekend. This was a game changer for me. That way I had all my weekends to work towards my side hustles/dreams and do everything I can't do during the workweek.
Lately I've been in a funk and not knowing in which directions to go and found myself aimlessly consuming useless content. That email just snapped me out it. It just occurred to me, I've could have used that time to write blog posts. I promised that I would give my blog/YouTube channel a chance this year and I haven't kept that promise :(. I have to remind myself, there's still 6 months left in the year and 6 months can make a world of a difference if I put my all into it.
Also just realized, inspiration doesn't come to those who wait but to those who do.
I'd like to ask you guys to think about what you're consuming at all times and ask yourself if that information or food is helping you in anyway?
